Join our Big IDEA project as an Income Maximisation Officer (Benefits Advisor) – Part-time (17.5 hours) fixed-term role.

Big IDEA stands for Income, Debt and Energy Advice. You'll help customers claim the welfare benefits they are entitled to, make the most of their income and keep their tenancy.

We are looking for a part-time Income Maximisation Officer (Benefits Advisor) to join our Investors in People Platinum award-winning team.

This is a fixed-term role until 31 March 2027, working 17.5 hours per week.

You will be employed by Fife Housing Group and work in partnership with Glen Housing Association, Ore Valley Housing Association and Greener Kirkcaldy. Together, we help people improve their financial wellbeing.

You will be part of our Housing Team, helping customers increase their income and keep their tenancy.

To be successful, you will have experience of providing welfare benefits advice. You will also be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of:

  • Providing a welfare benefits and tenancy support service that helps customers increase their income and puts rent first
  • Giving practical advice and support about benefits, eligibility and household budgeting
  • Helping customers apply for benefits, including Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and discretionary housing payments
  • Helping customers with benefit appeals and backdate requests
  • Looking at each customer's full situation so you can give the right support and help them keep their tenancy
  • Giving specialist advice and support to colleagues to build their knowledge of welfare benefits
  • Running money management workshops for small groups
  • Helping people build confidence in managing their money and avoid future financial problems
  • Showing people where they can get advice and support
  • Hold a valid in-date driving licence and have use of a car insured for business use

Experience in Housing Associations or the Social Housing Sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
